All According to Plan...I Think Not

A while ago Becca, Elsa, Brooke and I hatched this amazing plan, we were going to leave as soon as finals were done on Wednesday and drive that afternoon to San Diego where we were going to go to the beach and get tan and have an amazing tan. Wednesday afternoon saw us driving away from Liberty Square right on time and way excited for the trip ahead of us. But someone else had differnt plans for us...

After about an hour of driving my car started to overheat, we stopped in Kanosh (pictures to hopefully follow shortly) and again at Cove Fort to try and let it cool down, but it was not getting any better, so I called Uncle Todd and he said that I most likely needed a new radiator and that we needed to come back to Provo. You cannot imagine how depressed we were by that prospect.

So we went to turn around in Beaver, but luckily stopped at a shop there to check the coolant levels. Turns out there was almost no coolant in the car, so this really nice guy at the station added some for us and we continued on our way. But again half way between Cedar City and St. George it stated to overheat even worse than before. So we had to stop in St. George for the night. Luckily Brooke had an aunt and uncle in St. George that let us stay with them.

So a new radiator and another 6 hours in the car and we finally arrived in San Marcos last night. So to sum it up, longest trip of my life.

Goodbye Lafayette 27

It has been an AMAZING year in Lafayette 27, but sadly all good things must come to an end. Even the spontaneous dance parties, girls nights, talking about everything far into the night, long nights of procrastinating studying, and overall just plain fun. Since tonight is my last night in apartment 27 I'm feeling kinda depressed...because I know I'll never have another semester quite like this one, and that makes me feel sad. But I guess that's part of growing up; we have to move on to bigger and better things. (Another reason that I'm feeling depressed is that my room is looking pretty empty since I took a whole bunch of stuff to my uncle's house, filling the ENTIRE back of my car).

But for now I'll just have to remember the good times I've had the past year in Lafayette 27 while i first sit on the beach in San Diego and then all summer as I sit on a guard stand...and look forward to the amazing times to come in Devonshire 14!

So for now goodbye BYU and Lafayette 27, it's been a great year! You'll be greatly missed.

finals

Finals week is here...and you know what that means? Avoiding the inevitable (studying) until it comes to the point where you will FAIL if you don't sit down and focus. But you know something, I'm not good at sitting down and focusing...I suck at it...just ask my roommates. I am really good at finding ways of avoiding sitting down and focusing though. For example I painted my finger and toe nails today, in a French manicure no less (it takes more time and concentration), and now I'm writing a post, like I said I'm the master at finding distractions.

But even better than finding your own distractions is having one provided for you. Case in point we had a party tonight...a "I hate finals and don't want to study anymore" end of the year/ward game night party. Talk about hitting multiple birds with one stone. We had a chocolate fountain and lots of delicious things to dip in it (strawberries, angel food cake, cinnamon bears, pretzels...). Then we played the couch game and worked our brain muscles by practicing our strategizing skills. The chocolate made a mess, but it was so worth the fun time with great people from our ward...and the chocolate fights that followed.

Now its back to the grindstone, but before I know it these next few stressful days will be over and I'll be sitting on a beach in California getting started on my tan and relaxing...just gotta keep that beautiful picture in the back of my head. Until then though its back to the Civil War...yay!

roommates, helium balloons, puddles, and easter eggs

I'm really bad about keeping my blog updated so here is some of the happenings around Provo in pictures!

Awhile ago my roommates and I took roommate pictures! We've been talking about this for a long time, but we finally did it. Elsa's cousin Heather took the pictures and their amazing. Here are some of my favorites...
In general I think buying balloons for anything is a waste of money...there is only one redeeming quality of balloons...the helium that fills them. I love the way the helium makes your voice sound when you breathe it in, it could keep me occupied for hours. While avoiding writing our US history paper Elsa and I watched Twilight, did our hair like when were little, and sucked helium out of balloons...the result an amazingly average Sunday afternoon filled with procrastination.
5 year old pigtails!the shriveled up remains of the Happy Birthday Relief Society balloons

Anyone who knows me, knows that I look for any distraction to avoid doing homework and studying, so when it rained last week Becca and I decided to go jump in puddles with our rain boots! Some of these pictures are from the beginning of the year, and apparently in on of them I thought something was really funny...Since Easter is on Sunday, last Monday for FHE we dyed Easter Eggs. Mine is the lovely one that is half green and half purple and has my name on it.

High School Musical!

Last night I decided I really wanted to see High School Musical 3, so I was going to rent it. Who would have thought how hard it would be to find a movie. Becca and I looked for it for over an hour and a half. We went to 2 Blockbusters, 1 Hollywood Video, and about 5 grocery stores looking for a copy to rent. There were no copies anywhere! So I bought it!
Really lame I know...but the movie is so cheesy I absolutely love it! I also got a haircut yesterday, and I love it, my hair really needed it.
So far an awesome weekend!

Wheat Thins and Studying

I've been studying for a test constantly for the past 2 days. And while I was studying I just about a whole box of Wheat Thins.Given the name of my blog it is obvious that I'm not very exciting, tonight for example - a Friday night - I went to Costco with Elsa and Becca (Becca had a great time in the produce section while Elsa and I waited outside). I came home and watched a lot of TV cause I refuse to do homework on a Friday night.A typical night at our apartment, but with music.

Productivity!

This weekend I saw Confessions of a Shopaholic! I have been so excited about this movie, especially since I read the book. It was good, but I'm not gonna lie, I liked the book a lot better, it the movie they completely changed around the best part of the plot. But I guess this is to be expected, since movie adaptations of books are never quite up parr.

Today I was very productive. I finished a paper that is due tomorrow, before 10 o'clock. This is very unusual for me, just ask my roommates - normally I don't actually start papers until 10 o'clock the night before it is due. Not only that, but I did my reading for history for the 3rd class in a row, usually I just forget about that completely. But who would have known that a history book could actually make you laugh! (although this may just be me, since I'm a history nerd) Personally I think it is sometimes very funny how people did these amazingly stupid things, that if someone was telling you the story as if it happened yesterday would be hilarious, but when they write it in a history book, it becomes very dry, sometimes so dry its funny again because they don't do it justice. But maybe that's just me too, who knows?

Dreams

This semester for my world civ class I have to read Sigmund Freud on Dreams. So this evening I decided to go against the grain and actually read the book prior to the night before the paper on it was due...so that's what I've been doing all evening, reading about dreams. And it just so happened that my roommate Elsa had a very interesting dream last night, enabling me to put my newly acquired dream analyzing skills to good use. Pretty much after much studying and discussion I have come to the conclusion that dreams are a way for you to actually experience all your subconscious desires that you repressed throughout the day.

I also discovered in my study of dreams why I have such a hard time waking up in the morning. As it so happens when you have a dream right before waking (or as soon as your alarm clock starts to go off) it is an attempt to cover the stimulus (or the alarm) with some other explanation so that you can continue to sleep. Now this explains a lot, because I have a very hard time waking up, and the only dreams I usually remember are the ones I have right before I wake up. Who would have known that the reason I have such a hard time waking up is because my dreams are tricking me into thinking the alarm is part of the dream!

Also some very exciting news...my sister Kelsie got into BYU for next fall! I'm way excited for her and can't wait until we go to the same school again, we're going to have so much fun! Congratulations Kels!

Yay! I started a blog!

So I decided to start a blog on a whim today becuase Elsa started one and I was jealous. I don't know what I'm gonna write about in it, but who knows maybe it'll turn out to be the coolest thing since sliced bread!
